What is Periodontal Disease?
In this video, Dr. Victor Apel, a dedicated Melbourne dentist, explains the symptoms and treatment protocol during the stages of periodontal disease.
Periodontal disease: A large percentage of the population has it. It’s a bacterial infection that affects the gum tissue of people, and the byproducts that come off of those bacteria, when they eat the sugars that you have in your mouth, that causes the bone to go away. It actually resorbs.
That’s important if you want to control it. It’s also important if you want to save your teeth. What we find, if left gone too long, not only will you lose the teeth, but you’ll also lose the valuable bone that could have been used for implants.
So if you have bad taste, bad breath, or loose teeth, give our office a call. You may have periodontal disease. We’ll do a comprehensive evaluation to determine what stage it may be at, what options there are to control it, and what options there are to replace your teeth.
